Ayurvedic medicine (also known as Ayurveda) is an ancient Indian system of medicine. Ayurveda is based on the idea that illness results when a person’s physical, emotional, and spiritual forces are out of balance with each other and with the natural environment.

Ayurveda uses a combination of therapies in order to strengthen and purify the body and mind, to restore physical and spiritual harmony by balancing energy forces.

To prevent and treat illness, Ayurveda uses a number of approaches including dietary programs, herbal remedies, intestinal cleansing preparations, yoga, meditation, massage, breathing exercises, and visual imagery.

A clinical study showed that in 79% of cases, the health of patients with various chronic diseases improved significantly after Ayurvedic treatment. Laboratory and clinical studies have suggested that some Ayurvedic herbal preparations may have the potential to prevent and treat certain types of cancer, including breast, lung, and colon cancer.

Ayurveda should be delivered by a trained therapist in order to avoid any negative consequences.
